Timmins Mining Camp Gold Endowment
The Timmins mining camp is the most prolific gold area in Canada and among the best in the world.
Total gold endowment for the Timmins camp reached 106.5 million ounces at the end of 2019. If current inferred resources are included, gold endowment increases to 119.1 million ounces.
In addition, there are significant metal endowments of silver, copper, zinc, and nickel.
At the end of 2019, there were 8 operating gold mines and 1 base metal mine.
There are 51 mines and deposits with NI 43-101 reserves and resources.
GOLD
Production
Cumulative historic gold production from 1910 to the end of 2019, was just over 77.1 million ounces. This ranks it as the top gold producing mining camp in Canada.
Newmont Goldcorp operate three mines, Dome Pit, Hollinger, and Hoyle Pond, combined to form the Porcupine Mine Complex.
Pan American Silver, who purchased Tahoe Resources in February 2019, inherited the Timmins West and Bell Creek Mines.
Kirkland Lake Gold operates the Holt and Taylor mines.
McEwen Mining produces from the Black Fox Complex.
Production over the past 10 years steadily increased from 2010 and peaked in 2014, then decreased gradually for the next 5 years through 2019.
The top 10 gold mines produced 64.8 ounces of gold (85%) of the total to date. The Hollinger, Dome and McIntyre mines are known as the “Big Three”. Cumulatively they have produced an amazing 46.7 million ounces accounting for 60.7% of the total.
Endowment
Gold endowment has increased by 11.3 % over the past 5 years due to the increase in proven and probable and measured and indicated resources. Gold endowment at the end of 2019 is 106.5 million ounces. If current inferred resources are included, gold endowment increases to 119.1 million ounces. Endowment decreased slightly in 2019 due to a reduction in estimated resources.
There are 45 mines and deposits with NI 43-101 gold reserves and resources. Historical non-compliant reserves and resources were not included in the calculations. Proven and probable resources have more than doubled since 2014.

Gowest Gold (TSX-V: GWA) is focused on the delineation and development of their Bradshaw gold deposit with a Prefeasibilty study.
International Explorers and Prospectors is a private company that owns several advanced gold projects along the Destour-Porcupine and pipestone faults near Timmins.
Moneta Porcupine (TSX: ME) has 6 core projects in the Timmins area including the Golden Highway project with a recently updated resource estimate.
Noble Mineral Exploration (TSX-V: NOB) holds more than 78,500 hectares in the Timmins -Cochrane area with the flagship property of Project 81.
O3 Mining (TSX-V: 0III) is the third iteration of the Osisko group of companies and is a consolidator of properties in Ontario and Quebec, especially the Timmins area.
Pelangio Exploration (TSX-V: PX) is focusing on their Dome West and Dalton properties which are near the Dome and Hollinger mines.
The Timmins Mining Camp, which has been actively mined and explored for over 100 years, does not show any signs of slowing down.
